Meet
Tim in TN: Tim and his partner (and wife) joined Mr. Checkout in 2003. They
service stores in Tennessee. Today Tim has four routes and 3 delivery vehicles
servicing customers within a 50 mile radius. Customers include convenience and
small grocery stores, novelty/candy shops, drug stores, municipalities and colleges.
Tim and Sandy now work a three day week and plan to travel this year to Hawaii.

Industry Report 2007: Industry sales
rose by 12 percent to a record $523.9 billion in 2006, according to the Convenience
Store News 2007 Industry Report, the most relevant, reliable and actionable research
report on the c-store industry. In-store sales, where many retailers are focusing
their attention because of the volatility of the motor fuel market, were up a
strong 9.6 percent.
More importantly, in-store sales for the
average store (which exclude the effects of gasoline price inflation and a 3.2
percent increase in total store count) increased by 7.3 percent to $1,099,992
the second year in a row the industry has cracked the one million dollar per store
average.
The convenience store
(c-store) industry includes about 60,000 companies. Major companies include 7-Eleven,
The Pantry, and the retail divisions of large oil companies like ExxonMobil and
BP. About 70 companies operate 100 or more stores. The industry is highly fragmented:
the 50 largest companies hold less than 40 percent of the market. The average
